HIDDEN behind the glitzy tiaras, long lashes and pageant smiles is a cause close to Becky Branca’s heart.
A part of breast cancer awareness month, Ms Branca held a Girls Night In.
Cranbourne’s own Mrs Australia Globe and a Cancer Council ambassador said her pyjama party Girls Night In was her way of spreading the word about checking your breasts for lumps.
“I currently have two family members battling breast cancer and I also lost my grandmother and aunty to it,” Ms Branca said.
“I’m waiting on results from BRCA testing to see if I have the cancer gene and luckily my mammogram came back clear, but I can’t stress how important it is to be vigilant in checking your breasts.”
Ms Branca has also produced a healthy living e-book to be released next month, with proceeds going to the not-for-profit Women In Need Foundation.
So far the Cancer Council’s Girls Night In has raised more than $170,000.
