Get your motors runnin’

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

LEATHER, chrome and the roar of thousands of motorbikes echoed through Cranbourne as crowds of people gathered to watch the checkered flag wave off the Cranbourne GP Run.
In its 17th year, more than 7500 riders and hundreds of onlookers lined High Street, Cranbourne to be a part of the annual ride to Phillip Island.
With about 2000 spectators taking in the sheer size of the event the Cranbourne community came alive with food stalls, arcade games, face painting and roving performers.
Revving their engines for a mass exit at 10am on Saturday 17 October Australian singer-songwriter, comedian and actor Eddie Perfect and Deputy Mayor Cr Berkelmans took one flag in each hand to start the run.
Each year the GP Run celebrity ambassador is offered the opportunity to nominate a preferred charity to donate funds from the event and this year Eddie Perfect selected the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC).
The riders left Cranbourne in time to arrive at Phillip Island for lunch.
