POLICE are searching for a man who attempted to steal $7 worth of gold coins from a car parked in a driveway in Cranbourne North.
The intoxicated man attempted the theft just after midnight on Saturday 29 August before he was caught in the act by the victim.
The stocky would-be thief gave the coins back to the victim after a verbal confrontation and left the property on foot.
The green Holden Lumina station wagon was left unlocked.
