Honours show scores on the board

Lt Tony Riley, treasurer Ted Clay, Captain David Bulman, ex-communications officer Judith Rayner and ex- secretary Rose Johnstone with the new honor board.

GOING all the way back to 1945, an honour board has taken pride of place at the Tooradin CFA marking a special year for the community organisation.
Celebrating 70 years on the job, volunteers and friends of the Tooradin CFA can now look back at past and present volunteers, life members and managers.
Third Lieutenant at the Tooradin CFA Megan Angel said the board has hundreds of names on it.
“We did a lot of searching going through all the old records,” Megan said.
The sit down lunch and birthday celebrations held on Saturday 19 September also paid tribute to those who have given 20 years or more of service to the CFA.
“Seven people were awarded brigade life medals including Rose Johnston who was secretary for more than 20 years and she also collected one on behalf of her husband Arthur Johnston who has passed,” Megan said.
The CFA situated on Evans Road was opened up for the public to take a look inside the fire truck and grab a piece of cake.
Ms Angel said 2015 marks 70 years of the organisation’s registration, adding that it may date back even further.
