SERVING up much more than just green eggs and ham, Seussical the Musical takes rhythm and rhyme to a whole new level, and students at Hillcrest Christian College have taken to the story line like a cat in a hat.
A cast of 70 musicians, singers, dancers and actors from the college middle and senior schools have put on their thinking caps to bring some of Dr Suess’s most whimsical and colourful characters to life live on stage.
Rehearsing the tongue-tying lines for the last four months, director of the musical Brooke Scouller said the show had many optimistic underlining messages.
“The positive themes within the musical about using your imagination and creativity, enjoying and looking on the bright side of life and to not waste time worrying shine through beautifully,” she said.
Over three nights the stage show takes audiences on a heart-warming visit through the enchanting world of Jojo the thinker, Horton the elephant and of course the red and white striped Cat in a Hat.
“The students have thoroughly enjoyed bringing these whacky characters to life and the musical experience is an opportunity to extend the discipline of the performing arts.
“The production has seen the students committing many hours to learning the respective elements of their roles,” she said.
Based on a small boy discovering the ever witty Cat in a Hat, Seussical the Musical is about unlocking your imagination.
