Home fire arson charge

A 40-YEAR-OLD Cranbourne man has been charged with arson after a Lynbrook home was gutted by fire yesterday afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said neighbours detained the man found in a nearby street shortly after smoke billowed from a house in Paterson Drive about 4.12pm on Wednesday 22 July.
The blaze, which engulfed the home’s front bedroom, was brought under control within 15 minutes.
The man was arrested at the scene and charged with arson, burglary and criminal damage.

He was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 8 September.
