A POLICEMAN claimed roughly 70 per cent of the cars stolen from in Casey last week had been left unlocked.
Sergeant Simon Polson said he was shocked at the number of thefts resulting from cars and houses being left unlocked by their owners last week.
In one of the thefts, it is believed, a garage door was left open and car keys were found inside the vehicle.
Sgt Polson warned residents to keep their doors locked and not to have any valuables visible, cautioning that insurance companies may not honour their policies in some cases.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
