Youth threaten cab driver

POLICE are on the hunt for three young men who threatened a taxi driver with a meat cleaver and pulled a rope around his neck after he arrived to pick up a customer in Hampton Park.
The driver, employed with 13CABS, arrived outside a Catherine Edey Place property just before 3.45am on Monday 18 May when three men forced their way into his cab, one in the front passenger seat and two in the rear.
The man at the front held a meat cleaver to the driver’s throat and demanded money, while one of the boys in the back pulled a rope around the victim’s neck and strangled him.
The offenders soon fled the taxi, and it’s not believed anything was stolen from the man, who was uninjured in the fracas.
Detectives have released CCTV images taken from inside the cab at the time in the hope someone will be able to identify the offenders.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
