House burnt out

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

A FIRE completely destroyed a two-storey home in Narre Warren North on Monday.
The home in Carmen Court has partially collapsed and was fully alight when the CFA was called at 12.20pm.
Narre Warren North CFA Incident Controller, Linden Barry said there were 45 firemen and nine fire trucks on the scene.
“Neighbours were concerned someone was home because there was one car in the driveway,” Mr Barry said.
The cause of the fire is unknown and police are currently investigating.
Mr Barry said the home had suffered several hundred thousand dollars worth of damage.
“It took about 45 minutes to put the fire out with an aggressive fire attack – we remained on scene several hours after mopping up and salvaging,” he said.
The house is about 50 squares and CFA crews from Narre Warren North, Narre Warren, Dandenong, Hallam, Scoresby and Casey Group were sent to the home.
The adjacent bungalow was not affected by the blaze but Mr Barry said the incident was a 100 per cent loss.
Craig McGrath and his team from Electrix were called to the property at 1pm to disconnect the power.
“Out the front of the house was like a river, we disconnected the power at about 1.15pm while the fire was under control at the back of the home,” Mr McGrath said.
“It’s the biggest house fire I’ve seen,” he said.
The Narre Warren North CFA assisted police and left the scene at 4.15pm.
