Police abandon hot chase

POLICE were forced to call off a dangerous car chase in Berwick after a coupe bearing false plates was detected.
It’s understood police approached the dark sports coupe on Clyde Road around 12.25am on Saturday night but the driver sped off.
Police pursued the car as it headed outbound on the Monash Freeway but soon abandoned the chase because the offender was driving too erratically.
