Track readies for historic opening

By DAVID NAGEL

THE gates will fly back at Victoria’s first new racetrack in more than 40 years when the Pakenham Racing Club hosts its first meeting at Racing.com Park at Tynong next Thursday.
The PRC’s relocation from its former home on Racecourse Road, to a state-of-the-art facility built on 608-acres of former farming land, is almost complete, with finishing touches taking place ahead of the club’s Grand Opening Raceday on Thursday 26 March.
The PRC’s grand opening raceday promises to be a beauty, with free general admission, great racing, live music, and a jumping castle for the kids providing attractive options for the whole family.
The PRC is also inviting everyone who attends to sign the commemorative guest book which will be located at the club’s information booth, and will then displayed in the club’s mini museum as a keepsake.
The Grand Opening Raceday will be followed by the Cardinia Shire Community Raceday on Sunday 12 April and the Bruce Clough Mazda Pakenham Cup Day on Sunday 26 April.
The PRC will conduct its first race meeting on its $9 million Polytrack synthetic track on Tuesday 26 May.
