HAMPTON PARK BOWLS

IT HAS been an outstanding year for Hampton Park Saturday pennant bowlers with two teams promoted, but it came to an end at Heathmont this week with both Division 2 and Division 4 playing in the Metropolitan Pennant quarter finals.
Division 2 played the more experienced Ivanhoe, and only went down by nine shots. Shane Hardy, Mark Paton, Larry Simpson and Zak Storm turned around last week’s loss to be the only winning rink 24-12. Mort Smith, Neville Hendrie, Sean McDonald and Ken Cobden just lost 14-16, Steve Barnes, Chris Hendrie, Andrew Brandolin and Warwick Hardy lost 15-19 but Geoff Ampt, John Nunan, Shannon Micallef and Shane Collins were out bowled to lose 14-29.
Results: Ivanhoe (1) 76 d Hampton Park (1) 67.
Division 4, also at Heathmont played MCC/Kew Sports. Aaron Ottaway, Tracey Storm, Denise Eastick and Helen Lambert were down 10-21 with three ends to play, but scored 14 to 0 to win on the last end 24-21. But sadly Chris Barnes, Jen Sherry, Stan Hatch and Peter Hayden lost 14-28, Vince Kovacic, Jim Westwell, Ellen Smith and Geoff Ladner lost 9-22, while Heather Naismith, Richard Pallett, Rob Woff and Ron Beverly lost 18-26.
Results: MCC/Kew Sports 97 d Hampton Park (2) 65.
Players from both teams now have some idea of what to expect in the higher divisions next season.
