A MAN has been arrested in Clyde North overnight after police allegedly found guns, ammunition and a baton in his car.
The Pakenham man was discovered by police patrolling the area as part of the new Operation Stance, and was found sitting in his car in Selandra Rise just after 12.30am.
Police searched the 24-year-old’s car which was parked outside a vacated premises, and allegedly found two sawn-off rifles, ammunition, a baton, drug paraphernalia and what appeared to be a counterfeit $50 note.
The man was then arrested and later charged with two counts of possessing a general category handgun, possessing a prohibited weapon, possession of drug of dependence and possession of ammunition and a counterfeit note. He was bailed to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 1 June.
