YEAR 9 students at Lyndhurst Secondary College took a look into their future yesterday, at a careers event for the entire year level.
A careers speed date themed “Looking outside the box”, was held by the school and played host to several people from a variety of industries, including journalism, sport, food and banking.
The event gave the teenagers the chance to explore possible occupations and ask questions to further their knowledge and understanding of what their future might hold if they followed one of these career paths.
Trish Chandler, manager of individual pathways at the school, said the kids loved it.
“Students were fully immersed in this experience, listening to guests from the banking, sporting, artistics, food, health and journalism areas,“ she said.
Year 10 Beacon ambassador at the school Denise said guests were “inspiring because they had worked so hard to get into their career”, while Year 9 student Matt said he thought he would be doing one task only in a job, and didn’t realise he could be doing multiple tasks.
