TWO sisters have made a pledge to make a difference and will lose their locks in the name of cancer.
After Maxine Shuster and Karen McDonald lost their mum to cancer 17 years ago, they learnt the full impact that the disease can make. Many years later, the pair who are directors of Shooting Stars Early Learning Centre, Cranbourne North, will shave their heads to make a difference.
“We aren’t clever enough to cure it ourselves, and we thought this is the best way we could contribute,” Ms McDonald said.
The women’s sons will also lose their hair for the cause.
“We don’t want our children to go through the same thing,” she said.
The shave will take place on Friday 13 March at the early learning centre, and the pair hope to get as many local businesses and families involved as they can.
TBM Training will also sponsor the women by holding a free dress day for their employees, and would match the total amount that their employees donated.
