A CRANBOURNE man has unwittingly lit a grassfire while trying to take a shortcut in his car.
The man had moved off the road and was driving beside the train track near Merinda Park station just after 6pm on Tuesday 17 February when his car got stuck in a rut and the exhaust ignited a fire.
CFA crews were called to the blaze and no one was injured in the incident.
