SHOOTING Stars Early Learning Centre at Cranbourne North is a small family run centre which aims to offer specialised personal care to all its children and families.
Centre director Karen McDonald, who has been in the childcare industry for 27 years, said the centre provides long day care and accepted children from six weeks to school age.
Karen, who is also a qualified Mothercraft nurse, director and trainer of early childhood education and care, said the centre has a kinder program, before and after school care and school holiday program.
“We provide all meals, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snack,” she said.
“We also provide nappies and sunscreen.”
“All of our educators are highly qualified and experienced. We work in conjunction with Courtney Gardens Primary School to provide before and after school care.
“Children are walked to school by a qualified educator and escorted to their classroom.
“They are collected in the afternoon by meeting outside the office.”
The centre prides its self in being part of the community and will be taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave on 12 March with Karen and another staff member shaving their heads to raise money for the fight against cancer.
Karen said the centre focussed on providing high quality care through developing exceptional communicative and co-operative relationships between families and educators.
“An important factor in the provision of high quality care is the standard of programs offered to the children by educators,” she said.
“Play is an essential tool in the early education of a child.
“Through play children learn about their world.
“It is important for a successful childcare environment to understand and emphasise the importance of play in the development of the children in their care.
“At Shooting Stars we offer a play based educational program which builds the foundation for learning before the child reaches formal education.”
Shooting Stars Early Learning Centre can be found at 8 Elizabeth Street, Cranbourne North, and is open from 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.
