CRANBOURNE RSL BOWLS
MIDWEEK PENNANT
THE RSL continued on their winning way with a 33-shot win over Mulgrave CC. The win was largely due to Ray Chapman’s team which won by a huge 30 shots.
Results: Cranbourne RSL 79 (P. Males/M. Hodges/H. Rogers/R. Chapman 41-11. R. Bligh/C. Butler/T. Bonney/S. Spencer 21-17. A. Pichard/M. McIntyre/G. Dore/Y. Vander Wees 17-18) d Mulgrave CC 46.
SATURDAY
DIVISION 2
SATURDAY was a big game for both sides as the losing side would most likely finish on the bottom
of the ladder with the proverbial wooden spoon. But the RSL came out with all guns blazing and quickly set up a match-winning lead and never let go the rest of the day. It was an impressive victory with all four sides winning on the day. None were better than Ken Hocking’s side – with the ‘Rat’ back the side they steam rolled their opponents by a huge 18 shots. Hope they can keep the good form up for the remaining two games.
Results: Cranbourne RSL 90 (F. Scicluna/J. Carretero/R. Hansen/K. Hocking 26-8. R. Bligh/H. Rogers/J. Spencer/M. Watkinson 23-17. B. Graham/G. Dore/W. Ballard/W. Brannan 21-18. P. Males/J. Black/R. Chapman/Y. Vander Wees 20-18) d Cranbourne 61.
DIVISION 5
TOP two side of Chadstone proved too good for the RSL with Maree Hodges side the only winners on the day. The team should bounce back from this disappointment next week.
Results: Chadstone 96 d Cranbourne RSL 66 (D. Angee/T. Bonney/M. Bobetic/M. Hodges 18-17. M. Ryan/K. Hickson/B. Walsh/S. Hickson 21-23. K. Currie/B. Mason/R. Elliott/K. Walker 16-25. I. Maat/M. McIntyre/K. McLeod/J. Vowles 11-31).
DIVISION 8
IT WAS a clash of the titans, mate on mate, playing for bagging rights post match and it was always going to be a close game. But Brian Eagle’s side made the difference with a 21-shots win. So team Cranbourne (4) were able to do their song and dance after the game and claim – for this year at least – they are just a bit better than team Cranbourne (3).
Results: Cranbourne RSL (4) 48 (A. Pichard/G. Jones/J. Grant/B. Eagle 31-10. P. Campion/C. Arlove/L. Meagher/A. Underwood 16-17. J. Oxenbury/H. Reefman/H. Mills/D. Ambrose 17-16. T. Hodges/J. Hart/M. Pearson/P. Leake 10-31) d Cranbourne RSL (3) 27.
