Effort pleases coach

CRANBOURNE BOWLS
PLAYING away against Fitzroy Victoria was always going to be a tough ask, but Cranbourne was up for the challenge only going down by a mere six shots against a very strong opposition.
Head coach Steve Arthur was pleased with the effort.
“We gave ourselves every chance of winning and I was pleased with the effort of all our players today, against a very in-form side. We almost took the points and it was a great effort however, this now places us on the bottom of the ladder, a place we do not want to be, with next week’s game against Glen Waverley a critical must-win game.”
DIVISION 1
The rinks of skips Lyn Quigg and Steve Arthur both had tight wins with outstanding bowls played by Lyn Whalley and promoted player Roger Roscoe. Results: Cranbourne Division (1) 67 lost to Fitzroy Victoria (1) 73 (R. Travica 15/20, L. Quigg 17/15, M. Bland 16/20, and S. Arthur 19/18).
DIVISION 2
“A 10-shot loss to Hampton Park was not the result Cranbourne was hoping for,” club chief Ken Fulton said.
“We had our chances but we could not clinch the win against a strong opposition.”
The rink of Peter Colthup, Ken Fulton, Harry Van Soest and John Stanley was outstanding with a 12-shot win. After the game, team-mates of skip Colthup were amazed at the many great shots he played during the game. Results: Hampton Park (1) 86 defeated Cranbourne (2) 76 (G. Hunt 14/25, M. Boltong 19/20, P. Colthup 26/14 and M. Stevens 17/27).
DIVISION 3
John Mulder and his team managed a draw on his rink but no support from the other three rinks resulted in a disappointing 30-shot loss to Mulgrave Country club. Results: Mulgrave Country Club 88 defeated Cranbourne 58 (J. Mulder 16/16, M. Scotter 19/26, S. Burnett 10/17 and T. Whalley 13/29).
DIVISION 4
With all four rinks losing, Cranbourne were crushed by Hampton Park by 23 shots. Results: Hampton Park 95 defeated Cranbourne 72 (C. Wright 17/22, J. Gardner 19/28, K. Bowler 19/25 and S. De Piazza 16/20).
DIVISION 7
All four rinks amazingly won by three shots giving Cranbourne a 12-shot victory against Moorabbin. Also amazing was the rink of Romejn, De Pradines, Moore and O’Reilly who are all left-handed bowlers. Results: Cranbourne 74 defeated Moorabbin 62 (R. Sorensen 20/17, D. Wright 15/12, B. Romejn 19/16 and R. Tormey 20/17).
