A whole lot of luck

By BRIDGET SCOTT

A HOLE-in-one turned into a dream come true for a Cranbourne golfer last week when Paul Muir nailed the ultimate shot and won himself a new car.
A member of Cranbourne Golf Club since 2005, Mr Muir couldn’t believe his eyes when a shot from 128 metres out soared into the hole.
It was the par-three 10th hole … and a Mazda 2 was up for grabs … but a perfect 6-iron finished in the bottom of the hole
Mr Muir lined up for the shot only days after he and his partner had been at a car dealership looking for a new car, which also happened to be a Mazda. Luckily for the pair they didn’t make a purchase.
“It was unbelievable, really – quite amazing,” she said.
Mr Muir was competing in the Victorian Mazda Fourball Championship and took much pleasure in telling his partner there was no need to splash any cash on a new car.
“It hit on the left and then spun to the right, right into the hole,” he said.
“Everyone went wild and there were high-fives all round.”
The car, which has not been released to the public yet, is a brand new model.
If this wasn’t already enough, the golfer and his golfing partner also qualified for the Victorian Open which is held in March at Sorrento.
Mr Muir said he had never played a shot like that before.
“It was a first,” he said.
