A GROUP of young offenders were offered a second chance following the continuation of the Casey Youth Fitness Program.
A local police officer and a local resident joined forces to donate countless hours of their time to help the young locals get their lives back on track.
The program assists young people, aged from 12 to 20, who have either been charged, recently convicted or under sentence with serious criminal offences.
Casey CIU Detective Senior Constable Michael Harris Michael Harris, alongside Robert Auimatag meet with the youths each week and offer fitness sessions which usually end with a handshake or a high-five as a mark of respect for the instructors.
The pair agreed that it was important to target these young offenders before they progressed into adult life and started to commit more serious crimes.
With community support, they plan to expand and grow the program to cater for more people.
