Victory lost on trotters

CRANBOURNE BOWLS

The club was buzzing on Saturday evening after all five teams recording wins.
Cranbourne 1 defeated Armadale by nine shots, Cranbourne 2 defeated Pakenham by 42 shots, Cranbourne 3 defeated Cardinia Waters by 6 shots, Cranbourne 4 defeated Burden Park by 10 shots and Cranbourne 7 defeated Carrum by 7 shots.
Club Chief, Ken Fulton was so excited and overcome with emotion with the clubs victory after the game that he momentarily forgot where he was and at one stage he was giving a victory speech to the Harness racing club.
DIVISION 1
Playing in winter like conditions at Armadale, Cranbourne went on to win by nine shots to give them a long-awaited victory. Once again the ‘two Lyns’ Lynne Wood and Lyn Whalley played some great bowls to set up a 14-shot win for team mates Ian Barrenger and skip Steve Arthur. It must be a Lyn thing, but skip Lyn Quigg and his team of Gascoigne, Byrne and Thomas also had a good day with a five-shot win.

This week Cranbourne plays ladder leader Mulgrave Country Club at home.
DIVISION 2
“Cranny two is on the charge” That was the victory cry from skip Neil Fell straight after the game, ending the day with a massive 42-shot victory over old rivals Pakenham in front of a good number of onlookers at home on Saturday. Popular club member Jerry Dudink had an exceptional day of bowls with the crowd yelling out his name at every end. He was well backed by his team mates of Peter De Lisle and Joe Byrne who with skip Hunt went on to win by 17 shots. Matt Stevens playing third to skip Rob Reid drew the perfect bowl to give them victory on the last end of the day. Results: Cranbourne 88 d Pakenham 46 (N. Fell 20/10, M. Boltong 24/11, R. Reid 20/18, G. Hunt 24/7).
DIVISION 3
Skip John Mulder out talked and outplayed his opponents to record a convincing 17-shot win to ensure overall victory for Cranbourne. He was very pleased with his team of Sofio Raiti, Harry Van Soest and David Wilson. Skip and club legend Stan Burnett continued his good form with a 12-shot win supported by his team of Sandra Mueller, Tony Collins and Ron Shields. After the game Tony Collins raved about his skip Burnett. “We all gave Stan a ten-out-of-ten score for his game, he truly is a legend of the club who played the perfect game of bowls today”. Also another past Club champion Bill Dunn returned to the club after a long absence and got through the game ok leading for skip Tony Whalley.

DIVISION 4
Playing at home on synthetic in blustering conditions was no problem for Skip Scott De Piazza and his team of Pat Boltong, Griffiths, and Lyndsay Coate who won by 13 shots to set up victory to win overall by 10 shots. Skips David O’Reilly and Cheryl Wright both had close wins.
Results: Cranbourne 81 d Burden Park 71 (C. Wright 24/20, D. O’Reilly 22/20, S. Venville 11/20, S. De Piazza 24/11).
DIVISION 7
A close seven-shot win against Carrum was a great result, set up by some great bowls played by skip David Wright and his team of Watts, Hanks and Coley. Jimmy Hanks had a huge smile on his face after the game, a sure sign that he was pleased with the victory and his effort.
