Singapore raid clinches Comets the Cup

By RUSSELL BENNETT

FOR the second year in a row, Casey Comets soccer coach Annick Paul has taken a group of local girls to Singapore and come home with the Singapore Cup.
Eight under-18 Comets girls were part of the victorious team, led by the Comets coach, that defeated the Philippines 1-0 in the final.
These Comets players also had a wildly successful domestic season, reaching the girls under-18 Metropolitan State League grand final before going down 3-0 to Chisholm United FC Blue.
Two of the girls in the Singapore Cup-winning group (the main age of which is 16-and-under), Paige Nguyen and Shakira Samuel, also competed last year.
Trials for the Casey Comets juniors, from Joeys through to the under-18s for both girls and boys, will be held on 6 December at the club grounds on O’Tooles Road, Cranbourne.
Check the club’s website, or search ‘Casey Comets’ on Facebook for times.
