Safety boost for Lynbrook

LYNRBOOK will receive a much-needed safety boost with CCTV cameras and improved lighting proposed for the area.
Minister for Crime Prevention Edward O’Dononhue and Liberal candidate for Cranbourne Geoff Ablett visited the town on Wednesday morning to announce that a re-elected Napthine Government would fund key safety infrastructure measures in the area.
In a meeting with members of the Lynbrook Residents Association (LRA), Mr Ablett pledged $100,000 to fund CCTV and improve lighting.
“The LRA approached me about these community safety measures and I am pleased to be able to meet their requests,” Mr Ablett said.
“These are solutions developed by the local community to solve local problems, which is the whole basis of the Coalition Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program.”
He said the funding would go to CCTV cameras outside the kindergarten at the end of River Redgum Place and at Banjo Paterson Park.
“Funding will also be provided for improved lighting in both those locations, as well as on the shared footpath between the station and Lynbrook Primary School,” he said.
Mr O’Donohue commended Mr Ablett on his campaign for improved safety measures in Lynbrook.
“Geoff very clearly made the case for funding these very worthwhile projects for the Lynbrook community,” he said.
“Our $37 million Crime Prevention Program is about funding solutions from Main Street, not Spring Street, as this pledge shows.”
