A NEW and improved bus service throughout Cranbourne and its surrounding districts has been promised under a Labor Government.
On Friday 21 November Labor candidate for Cranbourne Jude Perea met with Shadow Minister for Public Transport Jill Hennessy to announce the additional bus routes for the area.
An Andrews Labor Government will invest more than $100 million to improve local bus network.
These will include more Frankston to Cranbourne services, a new Cranbourne to Pearcedale Service and the extension of already existing routes. It will also restore services cut by the Liberal Party and fix missing links in growth areas.
Ms Hennessey said this would be delivered under Labor’s plan for Victoria’s Bus Network.
Mr Perera said Labor planned to fix the inconvenient missing links in some suburbs and fill in the gaps in growth areas, which would improve frequency.
“Labor will also give councils and the local community a stronger voice in bus network planning,” he said.
“A ministerial consultative group will be established, bringing together users, operators, Public Transport Victoria, the RACV, representatives of workers and industry, and local government, to consider and advise on opportunities to improve Victorian public transport system and networks, including buses.”
“I will work with those who know their area the best – locals, communities and councils.”Labor’s promise included:
A new Cranbourne to Pearcedale service.
More Frankston to Cranbourne services.
More 799 Cranbourne North to Merinda Park services on weekdays and Saturdays.
More 898 Cranbourne East to Cranbourne Station services on Saturdays.
