All set for Pacing Cup

THE stage is set for the biggest night of harness racing at Cranbourne with the running of the Decron Cranbourne Pacing Cup on Saturday 6 December.
The Cranbourne Harness Racing Club’s night of nights, the cup will feature action and entertainment both on and off the track for people of all ages to enjoy.
The night will centre around quality harness racing with two Group-1 races on the program – the feature $100,000 Decron Cranbourne Pacing Cup and the $50,000 Aldebaran Park Bill Collins Trotters Mile.
Another highlight of the night will be the inaugural Double Seater Sulky Challenge, where three celebrities and one lucky competition winner will join the top drivers in the sulky for a competitive yet entertaining race.
Cranbourne Harness Racing Club chief executive Neil Bainbridge said the pacing cup would be a great Saturday night out and encouraged people to come along.
“With not one, but two Group-1 races on the program, the Decron Pacing Cup is an exciting and high-calibre night of harness racing at Cranbourne,” he said.
“It is one of the feature events of Harness Racing Victoria’s TAB.com.au Trots Country Cups Carnival, with something for everyone to enjoy on and off the track.
“With the introduction of the Double Seater Sulky Challenge, live entertainment, free children’s ride and the Carlton Draught Beer Garden being open for action, this year’s Pacing Cup is gearing up to be one of the biggest and best yet.”
Mr Bainbridge said the event also provided a great opportunity for businesses and organisations to book in their Christmas and end-of-year celebrations.
“There are still plenty of great hospitality packages available for groups of all sizes, including tiered dining tables and a range of marquees options,” he said.
“A night at the trots is something everyone can enjoy, so if you haven’t made festive season plans yet, then book in for the pacing cup.
“You can also just come along and make the most of our newly opened $4 million redeveloped grandstand and function space, which will host live music on the night.”
The first race will start at 6.30pm, with racing continuing through to the last race at 10.57pm.
