Eight in a row for RSL

CRANBOURNE RSL BOWLS
Tuesday
Cranbourne RSL 59 d Vermont South 44
The wins keep coming for the RSL, eight in a row now and no signs of complacency. A 13-shot win by Ray Chapman’s team set up the win. Well done to Barry Rogers who recovered from a horror game last week to be one of the best this week. Funny game bowls.
Congratulations to Ray Bligh, Colin Butler, Tom Bonney and John Spencer for their recent eight shots on one end. A rare feat in pennant and a nice badge was presented to the whole team.
Results:
Denise Meulman, Barry Rogers, Helena Rogers Ray Chapman 27-14
Aggie Pichard, Graham Dore, Marg McIntyre, Yvonne van der Wees 16-13
Ray Bligh, Colin Butler, Tom Bonney, John Spencer 16-17
Saturday
Division 2
Cranbourne 74 d Cranbourne RSL 68
In a close encounter between two old rivals, the RSL went down by six shots. The game was tight up to the last few ends, but unlike the last two weeks the RSL just faded with Cranbourne finishing just a shade the better. Both Mal Watkinson and Ken Hockings’ teams both did their bit for the team, winning well, unfortunately the other two teams bowled below expectations.
Results:
Ray Bligh, Trevor Elsey, John Spencer, Mal Watkinson 21-12
Fred Scicluna, Jesus Carretero, Wally Ballard, Ken Hocking 25-15
Barry Graham, Maree Hodges, Yvonne van der Wees, Ray Chapman 10-21
Alan Reynolds, Ken Walker, Rick Crawford, Bill Bradbury 12-26
Division 5
CHADSTONE 83 d Cranbourne RSL 64
The third-placed Chadstone proved too good for the RSL, winning by 19 shots. All rinks went down in the day to forget. Next week is just around the corner so expect the team to bounce back.
Results:
Letje Maat, Greg Jones, Ken McLeod, John Vowles 16-18
Jim Grant, Karen Hickson, Rob Elliott, Steve Hickson 22-25
John Black, Marg McIntyre, Marijan Bobetic, Michael Ryan 14-18
David Angee, Denise Meulman, Greg Dore, Max Eames 12-22
Division 8
Some joy for the RSL with the lower-placed Team 4 proving far too good for the more
highly fancied Team 3, in a clash of mate on mate. Both Arthur Underwood’s and Brian Eagle’s teams recording big wins. It will be two in a row for Team 4 as they have a bye next week.
Results:
Joe Hart, Peter Zimmerman, Max Pearson, Brian Eagle 28-13 (king of the Rinks)
Peter Campion, Laurie Meagher, Cyril Arlove, Arthur Underwood 28-17
Kate Currie, Marg Mills, Brian Mason, Doug Ambrose 17-28
Aggie Pichard, Murray Bulte, Harry Mills, Percy Leake 13-28
