MIDWEEK PENNANT
The midweek pennant team created history this week winning their seventh straight game, a club record. Mulgrave Country Club were gallant in defeat but the might of John Spencer’s and Yvonne Van der Wees team proving too much in the end.
Results: Cranbourne RSL 63 d Mulgrave Country Club 51 (A. Pichard/G. Dore/M. McIntyre/Y. Van der Wees won 27-12. R. Bligh/P. Males/T. Bonney/J. Spencer won 25-11. D. Meulman/B. Rogers/H. Rogers/R. Chapman lost 11-28).
SATURDAY PENNANT – DIVISION 2
In a thriller the RSL knocked over top side Narre Warren. It all came down to the last two bowls by each skip with the RSL overall one single shot in front. Ray Chapman’s first bowl taking the jack away from Narre Warren’s shot bowl and ensuring victory for the RSL. A real team effort with the RSL coming from seven shots behind with just a few ends to bowl. In the true RSL spirit of never giving up the teams of Bill Bradbury, Ray Chapman and Ken Hocking scoring two shots each on the last two ends. Mal Watkinson’s team inspired everyone, leading all day and scoring a vital one shot.
Results: Cranbourne RSL 82 d Narre Warren 78 (P. Males/T. Elsey/J. Spencer/M. Watkinson won 18-13. B. Graham/M. Hodges/Y. Van der Wees/R. Chapman won 28-26. A. Reynolds/K. Walker/R. Crawford/B. Bradbury drew 21-21. R. Bligh/J. Carretero/F. Scicluna/K. Hocking lost 15-18.
DIVISION 5
In a close fought battle the RSL finished too strong for Keysborough. John Vowles teams six shots on the last end along with a 22-shot win being decisive in ensuring victory. Two in a row for the RSL and a march up the ladder.
Results: Cranbourne RSL 86 d Keysborough 80 (I. Maat/G. Jones/K. Mcleod/J. Vowles won 36-14 King of the rinks. A. Pichard/M. McIntyre/M. Bobetic/M. Ryan won 16-14. P. Campion/D. Meulman/G. Dore/M. Eames lost 19-23. J. Black/K. Currie/R. Elliott/M. Bulte lost 15-29.
DIVISION 8 – SIDE 3
The RSL lost this one in another thriller going down on the last end by just one shot. Close losses are always hard to take, but Doug Ambrose’s team did their bit by winning by six shots.
Results: Noble Park 46 d Cranbourne RSL 45 (M. Smith/P. Zimmerman/B. Mason/D. Ambrose won 26-20. H. Mills/H. Reefman/C. Stevenson/P. Leake lost 19-26.
SIDE 4
This game was always close with scores even most of the day. Clayton finished a tad too well over the last couple of ends however.
Results: Clayton 34 d Cranbourne RSL 31 (L. Meagher/C. Arlove/B. Eagle/A. Underwood lost 16-17. J. Hart/J. Oxenbury/M. Pearson/J. Grant lost 15-17.
This week the RSL sides three and four play each other, so a win to the RSL is definitely on the cards.
