A LANDMARK event for Cranbourne will take off again this year and celebrate its 30th anniversary.
The annual Cranbourne Toy Run will move through the streets again as organisers begin to take donations for the event.
Organiser Barbara Maggs was part of the original group which helped get the event off the ground 30 years ago.
Ms Maggs, who is still involved, said it’s important that underprivileged people get something at Christmas time as well.
The event is now done all across the state with the Cranbourne event to take place on Sunday 7 December.
“Other people got on board the idea and do it from where they are,” Ms Maggs said.
The local event will start at Hungry Jacks and from there police will escort the contingent to Albert Park.
Ms Maggs said the group collects anything from toys to tinned goods that can go to people worse off than others.
She said a lot of the donations go back to the Cranbourne Information and Support Centre so people in the local area can benefit.
“We give it to various groups in town,” Ms Maggs said.
