THE City of Casey’s push for East West Link has been well advocated across the area with signs installed across Casey.
The council is determined to ensure the voices of outer south eastern residents are heard in the lead-up to the State Election on 29 November.
Election Advocacy spokesperson Sam Aziz said signs had been installed at 20 key locations across the municipality.
“The signs send a powerful message that residents of Melbourne’s outer south east want an alternative route to the Monash Freeway, reduced congestion and faster travel to western Melbourne including the airport,” he said.
In September, council expressed its State Government advocacy priorities which included the East West Link.
Cr Aziz said a number of Victorians voices should be heard on this topic.
“We’ve had a number of Casey residents that work in the west comment to us how important this project is,” he said.
“The East West Link will flow benefits to Casey and the outer south east, including saving the community travel time to the airport and western suburbs and beyond.”
“It will provide residents with a substantial improvement and reliability in travel times for east-west trips crossing Melbourne by offering an alternative route to the Monash Freeway.”
He also added that council invites all residents of Melbourne’s outer south east to show their support for this project, and ensure the debate is fairly represented.
