Feathers yanked by Tigers

By JARROD POTTER

CASEY-SOUTH MELBOURNE (9/155) failed to fire against the visiting Monash Tigers (2/160) as Dan Watson (49 not out) led the charge. The former Buckley Ridges all-rounder made an impact from the top of the Casey batting order to hold onto his scalp at all costs. A 65-run stand between Watson and Lachie Sperling (24) kicked off the Swans’ counterpunch before the middle order collapsed, taking Casey from 1/65 to 5/92. Simon Black (27 not out) carried on at the death to give Casey something to defend.
The chase was quick and frenetic from the Giers as Jack Harper (55 not out) and Sam Taylor (30 not out) did the heavy lifting.
Casey now faces Melbourne Uni away on Saturday in a one-dayer.
