Two rounds and two wins

HAMPTON PARK BOWLS

TUESDAY
Hampton Park’s Division one team made it two wins from two rounds after winning at Clayton in the first round by five shots, then defeating Narre Warren last week by 24.
After the first round win at Clayton, S. Collins, J. Westwell, I. Bartlett and E. Smith fought hard to lose by a mere three shots 15-18. G. Ladner, A. Westwell, N. Hendrie and C. Hendrie won another tight game by five 19-14. D. Carr, G. Ampt, D. Eastick and H. Lambert turned their previous week’s form right around to win by 22 for a 34-12 final score.
Hampton Park (1) 14-68 d Narre Warren (1) 2-44.
The Division Two team travelled to Burden Park for their second close loss.
With scores level, J. Sherry, I. Kitt, R. Wood and K. Damon scored four on the last end to win 21-17. H. Naismith, B. Diaper, M. Battaglia and B. Nicol lost a close one 15-16. Although in front early, R. Diaper, K. GOold, G. Clough and R. Woff failed to fire after lunch to lose 19-27.
Burden Park (1) 14-60 d Hampton Park (2) 2-55.
FRIDAY
Ian Bartlett and John Nunan were drawn to play their first round of the Casey Bowls Division, over-60’s pairs at Narre Warren. They started well against their Cranbourne opponents and were never headed to win 22-8.
SATURDAY
Saturday started with Division Two travelling to Mulgrave Country Club, but they had a nightmare day, losing all rinks in the windy conditions.
S. Hatch, N. Hendrie, S. Barnes and A. Brandolin lost 18-21. G. Ampt, J. Nunan, S. Michaellef and S. Collins lost 16-21. G. Lander, C. Hendrie, L. Simpson and W. Hardy lost 14-26. S. Hardy, P. Hayden, M. Paton and Z. Storm lost 9-32.
Mulgrave CC 18-100 d Hampton Park (1) 0-57.
The Division Four team however had better luck against Mulgrave at home.
R. Pallet, E. Smith, J. Westwell and R. Beverly won 28-12. H. Naismith, T. Storm, D. Eastick and H. Lambert won 24-11. C. Barnes, M. Battaglia, S. McDonald and I. Bartlett won 23-18, but V. Kovacic, J. Collins, J. Van Hout and K. Cobden lost 17-20.
Hampton Park (2) 16-92 d Mulgrave (5) CC 2-61.
The Division Six team were also at home against Ferntree Gully and joined the winners list.
G. Cox, T. Harbright, B. Nicol and I. Kitt had a day out winning easily by 22 shots 31-9. L. Unwin, A. Westwell, K. Goold and R. Woff won 20-16. A. Ottaway, R. Diaper, B. Diaper and R. Wood scraped home by a single shot 23-22. But J. Sherry, B. Webb, K. Damon and B. Holden lost 14-23.
Hampton Park (3) 16-85 d Ferntree Gull (4) 2-60.
The new Division Eight team travelled to Cardinia Waters only to lose both rinks.
K. McCarthy, B. Pointon, G. Wilson and C. Richards lost by four shots 17-21. W. Grimsey, L. Soligo J. Wright and R. Ooost lost 5-33.
Cardinia Waters (2) 14-54 d Hampton Park (4) 0-22.
SUNDAY
Hampton Park bowlers Ian Bartlett, Geoff Ladner, Neville Hendrie and Geoff Ampt were at Cranbourne Bowls Club for the first two rounds of the Casey Division ove-60’s singles championship.
Hendrie had the easiest day when his two opponents had to withdraw due to illness and injury. Geoff Ladner played well but was beaten 16-21. With the scores level at 20 all, Ian Bartlett needed anything on the last but… came up just short to lose 20-21. Geoff Ampt struggled a little early but rallied late to win 21-14.
