Quality compromise

I REFER to the comments made by Casey councillors Gary Rowe and Sam Aziz (Casey Backs Tunnel Link, News, 18 September) in relation the East West Link.
According to this report, Casey council will now start an ’information’ campaign within the municipality to advise Casey residents of the benefits of this project.
But do councillors Aziz and Rowe know something we don’t already know about the East West Link because neither the Napthine government or Lend Lease have publicly revealed the full commercial case for East West Link.
Casey residents should be informed about all the costs and commercial clauses to be included in the project’s contract.
For example, what is the likely tolling structure going to be for motorists?
Will the Link contract contain anti-competition clauses like the City Link contract?
What commercial incentives does Lend Lease want included in the Link contract?
How will noise pollution from the growth in traffic volumes be mitigated?
Noise pollution from traffic on the Monash freeway is already a significant worry for nearby residents, councillors Rowe and Aziz.
Will many Casey residents now be forced to compromise further on our quality of life?
John Glazebrook,
Endeavour Hills.
