CHILDREN across the country will be tickled pink by piggies after a massive fundraiser hosted by the Commonwealth Bank.
Five giant piggy banks, about 280 Commonwealth Bank branches, 60 volunteers and thousands of customers from Victoria helped raise money for sick children on Friday 26 September.
The Cranbourne store was one of many to take part in the fun-filled day with customers and members from community groups there to help raise much needed funds.
The three-metre high pink piggy on High Street in Cranbourne was hard to drive past.
Funds raised from the day went to the Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal with customers invited to take part in the piggy spirit and enjoy a range of activities such as sausage sizzles, cake stalls, piggy toy sales and games.
The Very Special Kids group supports more than 800 Victorian families that are looking after children with life-threatening conditions.
Its services can be accessed from when a child is first diagnosed through to recovery or bereavement.
The Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal runs throughout September and aims to raise more than $1 million across the various stores in Victoria.
Very Special Kids chief executive officer Sarah Hosking said the contribution from the Commonwealth Bank has been instrumental allowing the appeal to continue.
“Commonwealth Bank has supported us since the appeal began in 1998, helping us raise millions of dollars and make a significant difference to the lives of families we support,” she said.
Commonwealth Bank Regional General Manager for Vic Melbourne Richard Porter said the bank is proud to support the organisation.
“Many of our branch managers have been to visit the Very Special Kids House and have been touched by the care and love provided to the children and their families,” he said.
“We know that by supporting Very Special Kids and the Piggy Bank Appeal we are supporting families in our local community.”
