THE current Mrs Australia will travel to China at the end of the year to take part in International Quest, Mrs Globe.
Cranbourne North resident Becky Branca, who currently holds the title of Mrs Australia, will compete on a global scale at the end of this year.
She said this was the biggest pageant to take place with up to 62 countries involved.
“It’s the first pageant I have ever entered and I am a second generation pageant Queen,” she said.
“My mum was crowned Mrs Australia in 1974 – she took home Miss Elegant when she won.”
The pageant will kick off for a week on 27 November, with Ms Branca excited to fund-raise for a number of charities beforehand.
The fashion designer said it’s set to be a big week something different on each day. Ms Branca said the opportunity to work in the community attracted her towards the event.
“I am a big believer in giving back,” she said.
“Being Mrs Australia gives me the privilege to do that on a national scale.”
The Mrs Globe pageants chosen charity is the Women in Need (WIN) foundation which raises awareness around empowerment for women.
In honour of this, a stiletto walk will be held that will invite men to strut the cat walk in women’s shoes.
“This will be a really fun day, we’re in the middle of organising,” Ms Branca said.
However, in addition to this, this local beauty has also picked a charity which hits close to home.
The Australian Association for Disorders of the Corpus Collosum is a foundation which fund-raises for people whose corpus collosum has not developed at all, or is not fully developed.
In Ms Branca’s son Dominic’s case, it has not fully developed.
“It doesn’t get a lot of coverage, and this is a great way to get it out there,” she said.
Ms Branca, who is involved with the pageant for the first time this year, said she would recommend it to anyone.
“It’s great for community skills and leadership,” she said.
“It’s definitely something I would promote.”
