VICTORIAN JUNIOR BASKETBALL LEAGUE
BUZZER beaters, thrilling threes and Cavalier defence were the highlights of a frenetic weekend of basketball grand finals in the Victorian Junior Basketball League.
The Casey Cavaliers junior program had 11 teams in grand finals – including an all Casey finale in 18 Boys Regional 2 East competition – and brought home five championships to cap off a stellar year in the junior ranks.
The 18 Boys Regional 2 East 3 team knocked off their counterparts Casey 2 53-31. The nail-biters were on Sunday, as the 12 Boys Regional 3 South knocked off regional rivals Pakenham by a single point 35-34 at home while the 14 Boys Regional 4 South charges knocked off Knox by the same margin 36-35 at Nunwading.
The 12 Girls Regional 2 East and 12 Boys VJL 1 were the other two teams to claim championships in season 2014 for the Casey Cavaliers.
