Bridge to support

CARERS and people with a disability can find out about the range of services available to them at The Bridge’s information session next week.
The disability service provider, which operates throughout Casey, is hosting an information evening on Wednesday 10 September to showcase its services to the local community.
The Bridge chief executive Phillip Toovey said there would be information on the organisation’s social, leisure and respite activities, open employment and supported employment services.
“We welcome people to attend this night and meet some of our staff to find out more about The Bridge and the services offered,” he said.
“The target audience is primarily people with a disability as well as their families and carers.
“On one level we hope to attract young people in their final years of school who may be planning what they do upon leaving school and need to know what services are available for them.
“The event can also be of interest to people with a disability who are looking for a change, whether it be to take steps towards employment, or even retirement, or their carers might want to learn more about services that support them, like respite.
“Then there is the broader appeal to students wishing to do placements with a provider like us, businesses who may be thinking about employing a person with a disability and want to know what assistance they can get in this process, or people interested in volunteering their time.”
The Bridge has eight employment offices in Melbourne’s south-east, adult day services and a state-of-the-art warehouse that provides supported employment in central Dandenong.
The information session will be held on Wednesday 10 September from 6.30pm to 8pm at 67-69 Webb Street, Narre Warren.
