DANCERS from throughout the state will congregate in Casey to make a wish this month.
Backstage Dance Academy director Jessica Solomon is hosting a Dance Aid fundraiser in Hampton Park on Friday 29 August, with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
During the event dancers from a range of schools will perform for the event in order to raise as much money as possible for the foundation.
“There are a lot of dance schools that have the same goal and they all wish to raise money for charities like Make-A-Wish,” Ms Solomon, whose dance studio is based in Narre Warren, said.
“We’ve all had kids come through the doors that have illnesses themselves or who have brothers or sisters with illnesses and we have all been affected in some way and want to give back.
“It makes sense for us to use entertainment to raise money.
“Each dance studio is providing one or two dance routines, each has a routine prepared.”
Dance Aid will take place at the River Gum Theatre at 7pm, with doors opening from 6.40pm.
“I’m really excited, a lot of the dancers have made friends prior to this event,” Ms Solomon said.
“And a lot of the parents are excited that the money raised is going to the foundation.
“I think everyone’s been focusing on the same thing for a while – classes, competitions and concerts and, hopefully, I may inspire other dance studios to put on their own events and something like this can happen multiple times and for different charities.”
Dance Aid tickets range from $30 for adults, $25 for pensioners, $22 for children 12 years and over, and $20 for children under 12 years old.
Children under the age of three may sit on a parent’s lap.
