A YOUNG woman was airlifted to The Alfred hospital following a serious car crash in Tooradin on Friday night.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, which occurred about 7.30pm on the South Gippsland Highway, at the intersection of Bayview Road.
Investigators have been told a Ford station wagon was travelling south on the South Gippsland Highway when it struck an oncoming vehicle which was travelling south west.
The driver of the station wagon, a 23-year-old Tooradin woman, suffered serious chest and leg injuries in the crash. She was airlifted to The Alfred hospital in a serious, but stable condition, with non-life threatening injuries.
The woman’s passenger, a 23-year-old Frankston South man, escaped injury.
A 41-year-old Mulgrave woman, who was the driver of the second car, received minor injuries to her legs and was taken to the Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition.
