Ripe for parking

I REFER to Rex Flannery’s comments (Park parking, News 31 July). Four years ago I did a title search with Land Victoria and found that the ‘park’ is owned by none other than our own Casey Council. That is, numbers 1 and 3 Shrives Road and also, number 3 Austin Ave, Narre Warren, are all owned by the local council. I also believe that no. 5 Austin Avenue, is owned by the council, though I did not confirm that one! I think council is probably waiting for the owners of number 7 Austin Avenue to sell up so it can be compulsorily acquired to make up the whole park on the north side of Austin Ave! I suggested back in 2010 that it should be converted into a railway car-park, as it wasn’t being used as a park at all, and it still isn’t. It doesn’t have any playground equipment, just grass and three or so trees. It’s ripe for use as a car-park for those choosing to use it as such, but it should only be accessible from Austin Avenue. Then, upon leaving, cars should only be allowed to turn left along Shrives Road, NOT right and across the railway line into Webb Street, to avoid even more traffic issues in this already over-crowded railway station precinct.
