Mum’s acumen and passion

By BRIDGET COOK

LYNDHURST’S Robyn Papworth is up for two awards which celebrate mothers doing their best to have it all – a successful and happy business, family and social life.
The successful businesswoman and mother of twins has been nominated in two categories in the 2014 AusMumpreneur Awards, for the Emerging AusMumpreneur Award and People’s Choice Making a Difference Award.
The national awards, presented by the AusMumpreneur Network, recognise mothers who are juggling their role as a parent and running a successful business.
Ms Papworth started her own Hallam-based business, Move 4 Health, in 2008 which provides rehabilitation, sensory therapy and hydrotherapy for children and adults with moderate to severe intellectual and physical disabilities.
She said being nominated for these awards was exciting for her because it gave her a platform to raise awareness about the needs of people with a disability.
“I think the awards mean more to my client group than it does to me,” she said.
“Having disability put on the agenda of such a prestigious award means so much to all of us disability workers who put in a lot of hours, energy, compassion and dedication.
“It means a lot for my hard work to be recognised because it isn’t a high paying job in regards to money, but I get a lot of value out of my job and this type of recognition emotionally.
“If I can achieve anything from these awards, it is raising awareness about the needs and potential of individuals with a range of disabilities and health conditions.”
Ms Papworth said she believed she was having success in her business because she was so driven by her passion for helping people and families dealing with disabilities.
“I think my type of business catches peoples’ attention because it is unique and it is helping those individuals who need it most,” she said.
“My business is full of passion and heart.
“Without it, I wouldn’t be able to relate with my clients.
“My type of work can often be intriguing and compelling to people who work in the disability sector and it can also raise awareness for those who haven’t been blessed with knowing someone with a disability.”
The winners of the awards will be announced at the awards night in October.
Voting for the People’s Choice categories ends on the 31 August.
