TOORADIN Primary School students planted 167 trees, shrubs and grasses last Friday to celebrate National Tree Day.
They brightened up the school yard with the plants, including a range of indigenous shrubs in the dry creek bed and front of the school to increase the habitat for local wildlife.
Kooweerup Trees and Shrubs, Bunnings Cranbourne and Planet Ark 2 Million Trees Project donated tube plants for the day, and the Bell family donated three grape vines for the school’s edible garden.
Prep students spent the morning planting with their Grade 5/6 buddies, with many naming their tree and proudly showing their new plant to friends.
Students also weeded and replanted the school vegetable gardens.
