HIGH flying Casey proved too strong for Oakleigh as it marched towards the minor premiership in Big V Division 2.
The consistency of the Cavaliers line-up was too much for the Andrew Kaban-reliant Oakleigh as Casey shared the points and the court-time.
Matt Pebole (16 points, nine rebounds), Bevan Camilleri (13 points) and Jono Hawes (11 points, seven rebounds) led the Cavaliers’ march towards the finals.
Casey’s last great push will be this weekend with a double header against Keysborough (third) and Pakenham (fourth).
The Cavaliers’ streak continued on Saturday night as Stewart Baird’s charges bested Oakleigh Warriors 78-50.
In the mini-finals weekend, Casey will need to win only once across its double header to maintain top spot in Big V Division 2, with Shepparton losing both clashes during the season to the Cavaliers and only facing Western Port.
Sitting two games behind Melbourne Uni in position four and one behind the Mornington Breakers, Casey Cavaliers women will play their last game of the year against Keysborough at 5pm on Saturday and won’t vie for the championship.
Fighting for their chance to play finals, Casey Cavaliers Youth Men will need to defeat Southern Peninsula Sharks to confirm their place or if defeat does strike, hope that Warrandyte can defeat Melton.
The youth men were downed 62-67 by Chelsea as Sean Mckinnon (17 points) and Alistair Parker (nine points, 10 rebounds) led the scoresheet.
