HAMPTON Park’s youth girls’ team reigned supreme when they took on Fountain Gate for a good cause.
For the past four years the two teams have battled it out on the footy field as part of the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Cup.
This years’ match was held on Sunday 22 June and Hampton Park squared the ledger after a hard-fought victory.
The game aims to raise breast cancer awareness and vital funds for Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).
Fountain Gate Junior Football Club president Rachel Wilson said this year’s match was a great success, raising more than $400 for BCNA.
“Thank you to everyone who got involved and contributed to the wonderful success of the 2014 Breast Cancer Awareness Cup,” she said.
“We will continue to raise awareness and funds for this fantastic cause and we can’t wait for the rematch next year.”
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley attended the match and again presented the cup to the winning team.
“Each year the girls come out more committed than ever to winning the cup and doing their bit to raise awareness of the devastating impact breast cancer has on the lives of so many,” Ms Graley said,
“I am so impressed and inspired by their gutsy support of a cause that is so dear to my own heart.
“Congratulations to both the Fountain Gate and Hampton Park Football Club’s for their efforts in organising this great event.”
