SHARKING the win away from Cranbourne, St Kilda proved too strong in its VWFL Division 1 35-point victory.
Playing at Peanut Farm Reserve, the Eagles stayed in the contest through the first half, conceding only a three-point deficit at the major break.
Ruck Sammy Franklin returned from a six-week shoulder injury to give the Eagles a strong presence in the centre while Kerry Anderson, Hayley Wildes and Georgia Fisher attacked the ball with gusto.
Cranbourne could not put it together on the scoreboard after half-time as it only bagged another goal for the clash.
With its grasp on a final-four spot slipping, sixth placed Cranbourne will need to bounce back when it travels to Knox on Sunday.
Cranbourne’s reserves fared better to hold on for a 4.6 (30) to 3.6 (24) win over Golden Point. The Dragons attacked the Eagles in the final term, but Cranbourne had done enough to that point to hold on for victory. Pam Rogers and Nicole Sheridan were best afield.
Hallam claimed a comfortable 30-point triumph over Montmorency as Siona Pilkington, Pippa Attard and Kayla Sguazzato led the Hawks.

CITY of Casey SFL clubs once again could not muster a win as Doveton Eagles, Hallam and Endeavour Hills failed to fire.
Finals hopes remain alive for Doveton Eagles despite a 16-point loss to third place Oakleigh District. Only two points separated the sides heading into the final term, but the Eagles couldn’t keep pace with the District boys who slammed on three goals to none in the fourth. Peter Dye added three more goals to his season tally while Dylan Chadwick, Matt Fristad and Brett Hidgcock were best afield. Doveton Eagles now face second placed Skye on Saturday.
Friday night lights couldn’t shine a victory on Hallam as Dandenong walked away from Frawley Road with a 10-point win. A gallant chase by the Hawks restricted the Redlegs to 14 points after half-time, but Hallam could only muster seven goals to fall short 9.14 (68) to 12.6 (78). Kyle Kime, Andrew Daly and Brandon Nolan featured strongly in the Friday night showdown while Stephen Richards-Gill and Tom Bradley kicked a pair of goals each.
Endeavour Hills was batted after half-time by the striking Sandown Cobras in a 125-point demolition. Hayden Favero’s opening term goal was the only major the Falcons could muster as the Cobras slammed on 19 of their own to seal the deal. Jarryd Burke, Byron Hoe and Tom Gubbins were best afield.
