CRANBOURNE ruckman Michael Boland and key-defender Stuart Morrish had every reason to smile after the Eagles gave their South Gippsland Highway compatriots Tooradin a 113-point touch-up at Casey Fields on Saturday. It will be a big few weeks for the Eagles, who will celebrate their 125th season with a gala ball at the Amstel Golf Club on 2 August. “To celebrate our 125 years is a focus for the club and we will recognise our past, present and touch on the future,” club president Shane Baker said. Cranbourne played their first game of competitive football in 1889 with games against Mornington, Grantville and Frankston among others. “A lot has changed in 125 years,” Baker said. “With our club now having four men’s football teams, youth girls and two women’s teams, an all-abilities team and seven netball teams, as well as affiliation with our two Super Rules teams we have grown to a level that the founders in 1889 could never have imagined.” Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from Luke King on 0438 569 575. 124017 Picture: EMMA GRIFFIN
