THOSE interested in starting a new food business and who want to find out more about the requirements can do so at a council information session next week.
The City of Casey is hosting a free food premises information session on Wednesday 16 July at which food van operators or home-based businesses can find out about their responsibilities under the Food Act.
The event will feature a presentation from the council’s environmental health officers, information on registration processes and requirements for different premises types, food labelling, business noise requirements, waste pick up and removal times, footpath trading permits and practical examples about food safety.
City of Casey Mayor Geoff Ablett said anyone interested in starting a food business in Casey should head along and find out more.
“Potential food business operators will walk away at the end of the night with a fundamental understanding of food business management and their responsibilities under the Food Act,” he said.
“As a reminder, anyone considering starting a food business in Casey must also register their business with council.”
The event will be held on Wednesday 16 July at 6pm at Balla Balla Community Centre, 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East.
