Battle to be staged

TALENTED musicians across Casey are getting ready to rock at the FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands competition in Cranbourne next month.
Seven local bands will battle it out on stage at the all-ages event, which will be headlined by Melbourne-based bands Glorifed and Sierra.
Spectrum Entertainment has organised the event on Friday 4 July at the Cranbourne Public Hall to give young and emerging performers from Casey the opportunity to showcase their musical talent and compete against other local artists.
The bands competing on the night are Shoreside, To The Gallows, The Evercold, Epimetheus, Stand Against, Shelbyville and Heatherlea.
The winning band will go on to represent Casey in the Southern Metropolitan Regional Final later this year and the regional winner will perform at Push Over 2015 in the state final.
The winning band will also receive a recording and rehearsal package courtesy of Pony Music.
Other prizes to be awarded on the night include vouchers from Vox Music Academy and rehearsal sessions in the Loud Band Room at The Factory Rehearsal Centre for the Arts.
City of Casey Mayor Geoff Ablett has urged music lovers to attend the event to support not only Casey’s young musicians but also the group of young people behind the event.
“This and many other events held in Casey each year are organised by the young people from Casey’s Spectrum Entertainment committee,” he said.
“This event is a great example of entertainment for young people, by young people.”
The event is a fully supervised, drug, alcohol and smoke-free, all-ages event and will be held on Friday 7 July between 6.15pm and 11.15pm.
Tickets are available at the door for $10 with a pass, which can be obtained at Casey’s Youth Information Centres or Customer Service Centres, or $12 without a pass.
