MORE than 100 people turned out in Cranbourne last week to make their cuppa count as part of the Biggest Morning Tea.
The Balla Balla Community Centre hosted a fund-raising event on Tuesday 20 May and managed to raise about $1700.
The money will go to the Cancer Council for cancer prevention, research and support services.
One of the organisers, Jo Hall, said the event was a huge success.
“Maree Cullinan, manager at Balla Balla, and a team of volunteers organised all the details, providing catering, table service and administration activities to ensure a successful day,” she said.
“The event went remarkably smoothly and was declared a resounding success with dollars raised and the satisfaction of those attending.
“MC Rita Hartney ensured an upbeat program with her dynamic and witty personality.
“Guest speaker Kate Welk had the audience’s full attention with her entertaining and emotional personal cancer story and guest entertainer, singer Jessie Asadur, enchanted the audience with her melodious voice.”
Ms Hall said they had received great feedback from all those who attended.
“The attendees wholeheartedly embraced the spirit of the day, generously supporting raffles and the ‘best tea cup’ competition,” she said.
“Feedback received on the day was very positive and the quality of morning tea was a highlight.”
Ms Hall thanked businesses Whoops a Daisy Florist and Wicked Sensations for sponsoring the event.
