Drivers warned of speed limit reduction

MOTORISTS have been urged to take note of a speed limit change along Thompsons Road in Cranbourne North.
Following the recent Victorian Speed Limit Review, the a 3.3 kilometre section of the road, between Berwick Cranbourne Road and Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road has been reduced from a 90km/h speed zone to 80km/h.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Inga Peulich said that the decision to decrease the speed limit was only made following a thorough review by VicRoads to ensure that the speed limit was appropriate for safety and traffic flow.
“I urge everybody travelling on Thompsons Road to be aware of the new speed limit and adjust their speed accordingly,” she said.
“One of the key outcomes of the Victorian Speed Limit Review was to reduce the number of changes to speed limits along short sections of road to make it easier for motorists to comply with.
“Speeding continues to be a big problem and a cause of a lot of crashes.
“This change, along with others being made across the state, will help reduce the confusion that drivers were telling us they were experiencing.”
